The University of Michigan currently operates ~260 EBLPs on campus. These devices are designed to provide students and faculty quick and easy access to assistance in an emergency, but are deteriorating and largely inaccessible.Our work explores a citizen science approach to collecting data on the state of UM’s EBLP system with the goal of making targeted recommendations to the University for improvements. ‘SAFERS’ represents a fictitious student organization aimed at implementing this data collection project.
