This project speculates an architectural intervention that encourages humans to empathize with and listen to the trees and landscape they compose by imagining their perspectives, histories, and feelings. While empathy requires us to imaginatively enter a foreign mental space—studies have proven that these acts have a real impact on one’s wellness. As we grant empathy to the trees, we might also find ourselves compelled by their enmeshment and dependency in a larger ecosystem across a longer time span. This intervention thus puts at stake a collective wellness for humans and non-humans alike.
