STUDIO THEME

“The City and Sport”

The studio focuses on the civic and architectural potential of sports infrastructure in Paris and its environs over the course of two months. Questioning the sport's relationships with architecture and infrastructure, the studio analyzes and forecasts the evolutions of the "Metropolis of Greater Paris" on the eve of the 2024 Jeux Olympiques.

While working on and visiting precedent case studies, recognizing how City shaped Sport (and vice versa), the studio examines how the Metropolis of Paris is currently being shaped by sport infrastructure as new spatial forms and new relationships, both at large scale (a network of intertwined territorial relationships) and at the smaller scale (residential complexes).

The studio output is realized through a series of assignments and the development of a design proposal: Research, Concept and Design development, Design representation. Reviews are enriched by feedback from local and regional practitioners, professors, philosophers.

The studio is a total immersion into the metropolitan experience as well as professional environments, with incorporated presentations, lectures, site visits, private views of case studies, and study trips to Caen, Bordeaux, and Grenoble.
