“Le Petit Asile”

Drawing upon the complex history of French psychiatry, Le Petit Asile interrogates constructs of alienation, productivity, and social conformity ingrained in Parisian society, challenging the conventional public domain to forge spaces where marginalized individuals can exercise agency and express themselves in non-standard ways. This project aims to facilitate social integration, not through assimilation or pharmaceutical veiling, but by creating a nexus where the individuals struggling with mental illness, medical professionals, and broader social circles intersect, reflecting a microcosm of Parisian society. Central to this approach is the subversion of fear and misunderstanding surrounding mental illness, embracing the notion that knowledge cultivates empathy.
