Parkring Monolith explores the emerging world of diffusion models such as Midjourney and DALL-E. Using these text-to-image models, we generated various ‘drawings’ to start the design. These sections and plans resemble architectural drawings from afar, we recognize various architectural elements. However, looking in closely, these drawings don’t make sense. We extract moments that catch our attention to incorporate to the building project through a 3D translation process. Throughout many cities in Europe, we often see buildings arranged in a courtyard method, where we see courtyards throughout the city in a figure-ground diagram. I attempted to produce this quality in section instead of plan.
